The UKEMS Conference Bursary
UKEMS provides bursaries for UKEMS members aged 30 or below (Note: UKEMS student membership is free of charge) to attend the annual UKEMS conference.
Applicants must be registered for a graduate or post-graduate degree or be postdoctoral workers on temporary contracts. Applications must be made using the appropriate application form by letter, Fax or E-mail attachment to the local meeting organiser (and copied to the Treasurer), well in advance of the deadlines for registration and abstract submission and must include the abstract of a poster/verbal presentation to be given at the meeting.
Recipients are expected to provide a brief report (one or two paragraphs) summarising the highlights of the meeting they attended, for publication in the next UKEMS Newsletter.
If UKEMS receives too many applications, the awards will be made on the basis of one per institute and/or on a first-come-first-served. A bursary will normally comprise cost of attendance at the meeting (registration fee plus food and accommodation) to a maximum of £300 per application.
Members who receive UKEMS Conference Bursaries will remain eligible for UKEMS Presentation/Poster Awards in the same year.
