The UKEMS Travel Bursary for established scientists
UKEMS provides travel bursaries of up to £1000 to enable established scientists to attend conferences or participate in other academic exchange.
The applicant must be established in a field relevant to the objectives of UKEMS and must have been a member of the Society for at least 2 years. This award is intended for people in a career or career development position and the conference/activity for which they are applying should be related to the objectives of UKEMS.
Those applying for funding to attend a conference would normally be expected to submit an abstract for a poster or oral presentation.
Applications must be made using the appropriate form by letter, Fax or E-mail to the UKEMS Treasurer well in advance of the conference or proposed visit. The application will be considered by a panel of UKEMS committee members, past or present on a case by case basis.
The bursaries will cover travel (economy/2nd class), the conference registration fee (where appropriate) plus the cost of standard accommodation up to the value of £1000.
Recipients are expected to provide a brief report (one or two paragraphs) summarising the highlights of the conference/activity, for publication on the UKEMS website.
