UKEMS - the society concerned with the following questions:

UKEMS is the UK branch of the European Environmental Mutagen Society (EEMS), representing scientists involved in research on genetic damage caused by environmental agents (chemicals and radiation). It encompasses academic research into mechanisms and consequences of DNA damage, DNA repair and mutagenesis, and applications of this knowledge to the testing of novel pharmaceutical, industrial and agricultural chemicals for genotoxic effects. The emphasis is on effects on humans, but a topic of growing interest is the impact of genotoxic agents on organisms other than man - a field known as ecogenotoxicology.

Registration is now open for the UKEMS Annual Meeting 2012 (16th - 18th July 2012, Swansea University): The theme of this years meeting is "Next generation genotoxicology". For further details and to register or submit an abstract please go to www.ukems.swansea.ac.uk
